Today I was finishing my work on taking data on all of our equipment and also my friend Emily came down to come ski. So today i got to go out and ski with her as well as my good friend from Hawaii Kaleem. It was a pretty rad day and we got to eat a volunteer lunch. A volunteer lunch is a lunch that someone brings in for the volunteers.
Today i received an email from the Durango herald and they wanted to do a story on me and were wondering if they could stop by and shoot some pictures and take some photos. I was pretty exited but today was a big day we were going to take Jorge to the backside of the mountain today wish us luck.
Today we got a group of wounded vets from San Diego there were the two James and Jorge and his wife. Jorge was the one that I got to ski with and he was pretty good but not as good as I of course. But you could tell that this was not his first time skiing. Jorge is a double amputee who rips the mountain.
Today got of to a bad start because apparently the bus does not go up to the mountain on Monday because their are no scholarship students today. Lucky for me I was able to get a ride from on of the volunteers. When i got there I was put to the task of filing away paper work for about half the day. The other half I spent rehearsing my elevator speech, talking to volunteers, and making sandwiches for my bosses.
Today I was put in charge of developing an elevator speech and so i did a lot of research about what goes into an elevator speech as well as some talking points. Then after special request from one of our athletes I got to go and teach up on the mountain which was really fun. But this week was really fun and i cant wait to go back on Monday.
Today was actually really fun get some snow and I got to go out and ski. What I did was follow our scholarship athletes and take pictures and record video of them skiing and having fun. But the fun fell short when I had to come back inside and file some paper work as well as develop the videos and pictures.
The best start to any adventure is to get sick one the second day but tht did not stop me from working. So the whole day I worked on finding somewhere to outreach on the reservation for my project.
My first day of link was very interesting but fun. The first thing i did was set up my new Facebook page for my project it was called the Tribal Adaptive organization. Next one of the mono ski techs a guy named Ed showed me how to mount and dismount buckets from ski. After that they put me through the painful task of calling volunteers and asking for their help to volunteer. To end the day I was put to the task of filing away papers and talking to our scholarship athletes.
